Letting Go

This is probably the most valuable thing anyone can come to terms with. Such a simple thought letting go of all restraint and allowing yourself to be what it is. Nothing tying it down, no control, moving with the flow of the universe. So let’s explore the How of it, but first let us look at the images first in order to get an idea of what we are looking at.

My husband described a memory of when he was young. He said these were the moments in his life that brought him the most peace.  He would go out in the horse pasture, loosen his reins on the horse and open up to the expanse of the prairie and just ride.

I know of a chef who ran a four-star restaurant. He said when he was working that he was aware of everything around him. There were many chefs doing their jobs and he was aware of what each one of them was doing, while he was working he would hold this focus. This is what he enjoyed most about his job.

For myself I would have to say for me were the moments of touching the earth, feeling her warmth, running my fingers through the smoothness of the dirt between my fingers, seeing the glittering of the dirt falling to the ground. Letting everything go being in the moment of ineffable beauty at one with the universe.

I would also climb to the top of a big tree feeling the oneness with the tree and looking to the open sky feeling the sunlight touching my skin through the leaves, seeing the sun glistening through the leaves, looking up to the clear blue sky letting everything drop away and again becoming one with the universe.

Believe it or not these memories are all touching upon the same idea as differing as they are.  Just being in the moment flowing with the universe nothing else simply being in the moment.

How does one come to have these experiences?  What are the stumbling blocks to experiencing them?  The answer to the first question is simple, simply let go!  Yep it’s not so easy is it? So let us first look at the most prevalent stumbling block.  The biggest mistake is to try to stop thinking about the block.  By trying to push it away you are actually holding on to it by focusing upon making it even stronger. Thoughts are constantly moving from one to the next.  Just focus upon the joy of the moment and let all thoughts pass; they will go away on their own, you don't need to focus upon them.  This allows you to be present in the moment.

Once you have truly settled in the moment life is yours. Simply allow yourself to feel the beauty and the joy in the moment. By focusing upon the beauty and joy of the moment, as things come up it’s easy to just let go and stay where you are. I am not saying to focus on the things that come up, I'm saying as they appear, allow them to drop away. As you hold this vision of beauty and feeling the joy of the moment your body will automatically let go on its own and you may stay for a while.  Living your best life lived to the fullest filled with beauty and joy. Flowing with the universe instead of against it.
